The United States was NOT an ally of Iraq. Not even during the Iran-Iraq war.

During the Iran-Iraq war, the United States sold equipment and material that COULD be converted to military use, by the Iraqis. During this same war, the United States sold (or allowed the sale of) actual American weapons to Iran.

Care to explain how the sale of American wire-guided missiles to the Iranians helped the common interests of the United States and their Iraqi "allies"?
