That's a stretch. If the UN wasnt so feckless, it should have supported the US and then we would have had a coalition. We could have waited longer but i dont think the UN would ever de-feck so it was more a matter of when than whether. With enough troops, perhaps the insurrection/civil war might have been controlled/minimized. We will never know if you are right about the outcome being almost pre-ordained or the folks like powell and zinni who were more optimistic about winning with more troops.
