AMD spun off its FLASH business, but still owns a percentage of the new company and shares technology with it.

In that sense, AMD has 4 flash FABs (not "a" flash FAB). During the period in which AMD implemented APM, they went from being a generation behind intel in flash density (AMD was at 128 when Intel was shipping 256mb NOR) to about a 1/2 generation ahead. You may have seen that Intel recently announced they were going to begin sampling 1mb flash. AMD's shipping 1mb flash and began sampling last October. hardwaresecrets.com
