ElM, after I posted, I thought perhaps there is something more important than oil in UAE and that is the right respect for capital, with no dole, no old age pension, no horde of children whose parents want other people to pay for a state-run indoctrination programme, no free hospitals, no theft and good legal systems protecting individuals, their property and contracts as well as the borders.

Since there were so few people there and so many immigrants, it would make sense to run it like that. Immigrants would do well as they would be the producers rather than the bludgers. Everyone would do well.

I am guessing, but perhaps that is happening in UAE. I guess though that it's being run as just a sheikdom with rulers taking all and the golden goose will be killed soon enough. I doubt that the philosophical foundations of freedom there are as deep as the shallow oil wells.

You are right that NZ and Europe [as well as elsewhere] are disrespecting capital, with the youngsters there not understanding how the wealth was created in the first place. We don't need immigrants to destroy the wealth. The local yokels are doing a good job of it by themselves.

I could not have achieved return on investment in NZ the way I've achieved it in my overseas activities. It is a bludger society in NZ now with most people working directly or indirectly for the government and the government piddles it down the drain. If they were building roads, bridges, dams, airports and other good things, it wouldn't be so bad, but they are spending it all on ephemeral "social" problems, creating more rather than solving the problems.

My money is mostly offshore. The local yokels would destroy it if they could get hold of it. They are changing tax laws this year to do just that. Maybe I'll end up having to flee the country. They've stolen my ancestors' efforts and now they want to steal mine. Barbarians!!

They are so dumb, they didn't even steal it all for their own use; they have stolen the goodies and given them away to immigrants who are happy enough [of course] to receive $2 million per capita worth of goodies for no charge.
