Contingency plans like the one Hersh is wringing his hands over are very normal. There's probably one for nuking France.

On the other hand, Bush never makes empy threats; he has specifically said he will use force if necessary to prevent Iran from getting the bomb. He is to be taken at his word on this, something the Iranians and others don't understand thanks to their culture of lie, cheat, and steal.

He is in his second term, no longer cares about the political effects on him of such an action. Finally, he doesn't want to leave the Iranian problem at the doorstep of a new President.

Bombing of Iran is therefore in my estimation almost a certainty unless the Iranowackos starting cowering, which won't happen thanks to the fantasy world they inhabit. Their religion is at present a cult, more specifically, a death cult.

Get ready.

Bush will never allow the Iranian nutjobs to have a bomb.

And that is a good thing because diplomacy is useless. Unfortunately, the choices are between "terrible" and "horrible."

That's life sometimes.
