Universal Display Corp. Becomes Newest Member of The U.S. Display Consortium

Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) Developer Brings New
Technology to USDC
The United States Display Consortium (USDC), a cooperative industry/government effort aimed at developing an infrastructure to support a North American flat panel display (FPD) industry welcomes Universal Display Corp. of Bala Cynwyd, Pa. (NASDAQ:PANL;PHLX:PNL) as its newest member.
Universal Display Corp. (UDC) is engaged in the research, development and commercialization of its proprietary, organic light emitting diode (OLED) technology for flat panel displays, lasers and other applications.
OLED technology has been determined to potentially provide outstanding display performance through high resolution, full color capability, low power and excellent luminosity. Its applications range from use in small cellular phones to large flat screen, high definition televisions.
Strategically partnered with Princeton University and the University of Southern California, Universal Display is successfully transferring the state-of-the-art OLED technology from the laboratory into the marketplace. UDC is the exclusive licensee of the more than 30 patent applications that have already been filed by the Universities encompassing, worldwide intellectual property portfolios.

Most recently, UDC received a $3 million award from the U.S. Dept. of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for the continued development of ultra-lightweight, full color OLED flat panel display technology.
U.S. Display Consortium is an industry-led, public/private partnership providing a common platform for flat panel display manufacturers, developers, users and the manufacturing equipment and supplier base. Headquartered in San Jose, the consortium has more than 130 corporate members, as well as support form the U.S. government's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
USDC's mission is to establish and enlarge the U.S. supplier infrastructure required to support a world-class, U.S. based manufacturing capability for high-definition displays.
