James, the Temple being measured is the Temple in heaven. The temple on earth was a copy of the Temple in heaven.

The generation that sees these things will not pass away until all these things take place means the generation that's alive and sees the "signs of the times" start that Jesus describes in Matt. 24. That generation will not pass away means God is going to start the end and finish it in that same generation. It does not mean the generation that saw the 2nd Temple destroyed because that has nothing to do with the end times.
