Gus > 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
We don't know for a fact that MY donation didn't help. Furthermore, other than giving the money to a US charity and taking my chances, there was no way I could get any help to the Katrina victims. At least I didn't give it to a religious organisation where the money would end up promoting settlements in Israel. Being a jazz lover, as I mentioned, I have an empathy with the people of New Orleans so I was sympathetic to their problem. I can assure you I won't miss the few dollars I gave.
> The single biggest source, representing three-quarters of the total cash received, was the United Arab Emirates, which contributed $100 million, according to the State Department.
That's not because they cared two cents for the Katrina victims. I would guess 80% of their "donation" went in "oiling" some US politicians -- or their wives, who pack these charitable foundations. |
