We don't know for a fact that MY donation didn't help. Furthermore, other than giving the money to a US charity and taking my chances, there was no way I could get any help to the Katrina victims. At least I didn't give it to a religious organisation where the money would end up promoting settlements in Israel. Being a jazz lover, as I mentioned, I have an empathy with the people of New Orleans so I was sympathetic to their problem. I can assure you I won't miss the few dollars I gave.

That's not because they cared two cents for the Katrina victims. I would guess 80% of their "donation" went in "oiling" some US politicians -- or their wives, who pack these charitable foundations.
