Of course I read Hersh's article.
I took it with a huge dose of salt as Hersh, you will recall, is not too credible with me. He suffers from Bush Derangement Syndrome ("BDS").
I should have said that I have not seen anything from the Administration suggesting nuclear weapons are part of the option.
I think Hersh is intentionally blowing smoke. And, as I've said, the plans for nuking France are probably gathering dust somewhere.
Simply nothing to worry about, but great political grist for the partisans' mills.
Hersh is the epitome of an older guy who had success and still thinks he's the cat's pajamas. He's good for circulation and a few partisan potshots, however, and I think this is the reason he still gets published. You'll note that his recent stuff, including the story about the US ferrying "thousands" of AQ fighters out of Afghanistan and into Pakistan, a story which if true would have led to a Pulitzer, has gotten exactly zero traction.
High ranking officers resigning....oh, pshaw, can't you smell BS? A Texan, even if no longer officially one, should have had his BS detector go manic when reading that part of the story.
Bet you a pound of the greasiest Texas BBQ that not a single one high ranking officer resigns on account of the "facts" noted in Hersh's piece. |
