"Most of the Hisps now invading the US look pretty much within what Europeans would consider "white people". "

Maybe. Now personally I think all the race stuff is nonsense. Humans are extremely genetically similar. Showing a lot less variations than many species. As a species we went through a bottleneck a few tens, possibly hundreds, of thousands of years ago, and it shows in our genome. So harping over Racial differences is nonsense.

But many people do it any way. Many view the Hispanics as non-whites because they are. Native Americans were separated from the Europeans for much longer than even the Africans were from the Europeans. There was essentially zero sharing of genes since those first ones decided to wander out of Africa and to the west and the east. Which gives them a great claim on being non-white.

Gustave strikes me as a typical European whose only knowledge of the US is through the media. Yet, they feel they know this country and how things operate. I had my mother in law tell me that when I went to an interview, they would send people out to look at my car to help form an opinion. I asked how she knew that. She said she saw a movie...

Race relations in the US are complex and not nearly as,umm, black and white as Gustave has been portraying them.
