<Channel Four television news said last week that Prince Charles had a blazing row with Fellowes [Diana's sister's husband, the Queen's private secretary] during which the courtier was told to ``impale himself on his own flagstaff.''>
Hey, Mephisto!!! Is that a funny quote, or what? I pulled it off the internet, but it obviously originally aired on British television. Being more open, direct, and obviously a lot more emotionally healthy, of course, we have a more informal and to the point way of saying it over here, but isn't that just so stuffily, euphemistically, archtypically English for you??
I think Kitty Kelley's books are slightly more accurate than the National Enquirer. The review of her book that I read did not challenge the accuracy of her facts, but simply that most of the really juicy stuff had already been revealed in one or more of the many books published within the last few years about the royal family.
The most interesting thing I read in all those books is that the Queen's last two children were fathered not by Prince Phillip, but by Lord Carnarvan (not sure about the spelling). Andrew and Edward do not look at all like Phillip, and it is said that while Elizabeth and her husband were passionately in love when they married, it fell apart when she became Queen and got so much attention and he had to walk behind her, etc. He is very macho!!!
Diana did NOT like Tiggy Legge-Bourke!! I really doubt that Charles would wreck his life a second time by going after a much younger woman, though, at least not in a serious fashion, and risking his already delicate relationship with Camilla. Diana did not like Tiggy because she was bubbly, informal, enthusiastic, and her children really did like Tiggy. I can imagine it would be really hard to have your sons only half the time, and to know they were being nurtured by another woman hired for the purpose. Diana was awfully insecure to deal with threats like that.
"The Sun" has proposed a Diana Day yearly holiday in Britain, most likely on her July 1 birthday. A telephone call-in poll registered 14-1 in favor of the idea! |
