Unlikely Hersh made the story up. When plans are made, all options get considered. So I would not be surprised if there was some consideration, probably quickly abandoned, to using nukes. The ah* Hersh no doubt got wind of it, and blew it completely out of proportion. The lack of detail in the article tells me that his sources were not well placed and that he really knows next to nothing. It also tells me that he may be manipulated by some very adroit intelligence and/or military folks. Wouldn't be the first time he has been conned.
