Moog Acquires Curlin Medical, Assets of Two Affiliated Companies for $75 Million

EAST AURORA, N.Y. (AP) -- Moog Inc., which makes precision-control systems for the aerospace industry and the industrial sector, said Tuesday it completed the acquisition of infusion pump manufacturer Curlin Medical LLC and the assets of two affiliated companies for $75 million.

Moog paid $63 million in cash and $12 million in the form of a 53-week note for the companies as it looks to expand its presence in the medical market. Sales of medical products at Moog will be approximately $40 million in fiscal 2006 before the Curlin purchase. Curlin achieved $16 million in sales in 2005, with operating profits of $5.4 million. Sales in 2006 are almost double so far.

Moog expects to continue and expand its relationship with Curlin's North American products distributor B. Braun Medical Inc. It also sees Curlin's profit contribution offsetting financing costs and the amortization of purchase accounting intangibles by the last six months of its fiscal year ending September 30.
