You'd be correct if the allegation was that Iraq GOT yellowcake fron Niger, but that wasn't the allegation

It would be correct if we knew Iraq was looking, and we DIDN'T KNOW HOW SUCCESSFUL THEY WERE.

We knew they looked in Niger. We didn't know if they looked elsewhere, and whether they were successful. You assume we knew they didn't acquire any materials. We did not know that then, and had to assume the worst given we knew they were looking. If you are going to make assumptions, assume the worst. Its not a field conducive to "thinking positively".
