Re. Dems being "unique in their moral depravity" - a case can indeed be made and I've done it elsewhere - and again below.

Consider Trent Lott and Robert Byrd - after Lott made a dumb comment about Strom Thurmond's past, he lost his Majority Leader position. He also went out of his way to apologize, going on BET to do so. Byrd, otoh, a former recruiter for the KKK, a Senator who fought to keep the first black off the USSC and filibustered against civil rights and who has made numerous racially hostile remarks over the years, including pretty recent years, has never apologized for anything yet is still the Democratic leader in the Senate.

The last years have given many examples of Republicans who have gotten involved in scandals and in all the instances I can think of the Republican resigned - even before being found guilty of anything. Compare this to Democratic statesmen like Barney Frank (who had a gay prostitue as a livein boyfriend), Ted Kennedy (who we all understand killed a young woman while driving drunk), and of course, Bill Clinton (elaboration unnecessary).

It certainly looks like the Democratic party is the party of no shame, no apologies, no standards.
