my wife and I love to travel. There are things that you simply cannot appreciate without being there. I have previously opined that India and China are the "leaders" that the world should watch. I think you have a better appreciation of what I am talking about now.

By "leaders", I do not mean that as a praise, just that they are the first nations in the history of the human race facing the daunting task of how to run a country with over a billion citizens.

Say if you are the mayor of Beijing tomorrow, what would you do to solve the problem?

If the population of the US is quadrupled, do you think that we will be doing better, or would we have ceased to exist long before that?

Now that you have a snap shot of Beijing, frozen at spring 2006, you should go back a few years from now and take another reading. Are they making any progress? Did they change for the better, or worse?
