Why are you arguing two different things? It would be easy to simply stop softwood lumber from crossing the border until the matter was settled. but we are afraid of a little short term pain so we as a country don't have the balls.
As for stopping the oil from being sold to the US, isn't that up to the people who own the oil, not Canadians to decide? Like whores Canadians sell whatever they can to whoever wants it. So why not give up this smugness about what we could do and deal with the reality that we cannot control what we no longer own. BTW it is mostly US Companies who are losing the lumber profits anyway...
