Again my point stands and solidly: in terms of an actual liveable environment, China is a complete hell hole, the US and other western nations are so so.

As far as long term issues like greenhouse gases, I am not one to say that doesn't matter, but solving it is not exactly low hanging fruit. It will take a multi-decade plan and effort to wean off of fossil fuels. The US should get off the dime and start down that path. I'm sure an energy crisis will be required for that, so the US will pay the price for fossil fuel dependency in due course.

China on the other hands, just dumps willy nilly into waterways, has awful air standards, uses up valuable agricultural land, and fails to enforce against even the most egregious cases. That's because cronies and fat cats make money under such a system. Changes in this kind of regime, would pick the low hanging environmental fruit.
