There is no more polluted place on earth -- well, perhaps Moldovia. My concern is that you turn on the fatcats thing, and don't seem to realize that China's problems and efforts to address these problems run deeper than anything you seem to have seen. Did you see any motorbikes in Beijing? Do you know why? Did you see the new fleets of electric two wheeled vehicles in places like Suzhou? Are you aware of the massive tree planting programs in places like Shanghai? Do you know what they are doing to eliminate all coal burning in major cities? Do you know about their advanced research programs on clean energy technology? China is a complete mess -- but they are not just sitting on their hands. The USA in terms of global warming is the worst mess on the planet -- but here I see absolutely nothing that suggests to me that we have any sense of urgency or intent to do more than pay a little lip service to the horrendous destruction we are wreaking on this planet. You talk like China has an urgent issue and we don't. I could not be more in disagreement -- the difference between us and them is that they understand, accept and are trying to resolve their problems, while we sit back and pretend there is nothing to get all worked up about in the USA. Pollution is but one dimension of destruction of the ecoshpere -- greenhouse gases don't choke you to death they merely destroy the natural systems that support life on earth.
