Bush lost this war at the (mis) planning table a long time ago. It's simply not worth it to keep going as we have no real plan or hope of success.

A timetable is now necessary or else the Iraqis won't take us seriously, so they've got us by the cojones instead of the other way around. As is, they're dragging their feet and hoping we stay there for as long as possible. The main reason is we're spending a ton of money there, and they get a lot of it. The US is now spending a billion dollars a day there, and our deficits are rising and rising and rising.

Of course nothing is fixed in stone. The timetable could change due to special circumstances. But the real issue now is that Bush-Cheney show no desire whatsoever to withdraw from Iraq - ever. So nothing is getting done. No real progress is being made. Iraq is a hopeless case, already a lost cause. So time to cut our losses and redeploy.
