Tiny Nukes Poised to Hit New Yorker Scribe’s Laptop
Days after New Yorker writer Seymour Hersh reported that the United States was considering military action against Iran, President George W. Bush said that the article was in error and that the U.S. was actually weighing a tactical strike against Mr. Hersh.
“Seymour Hersh got many of the details of a military strike correct in his article,” Mr. Bush told reporters at the White House. “He just got the target wrong.”
Mr. Bush said that the Hersh article proves that “even New Yorker fact-checkers slip up every now and then.”
While the president would not confirm reports that the Pentagon was considering a tactical nuclear strike to take out the award-winning writer’s laptop, he told reporters, “When it comes to dealing with Seymour Hersh, nothing is off the table.”
Critics of a proposed strike against Seymour Hersh warn that any such use of military force could inflame the journalistic community and send thousands of angry journalists into the streets.
But President Bush downplayed such concerns, arguing, “Friendly journalists, such as Bob Novak, have nothing to fear from us and will continue to get juicy leaks as they have in the past.”
Instead, the president said, the U.S. was targeting journalists he called “evilwriters” and “members of the Axis of Seymour.”
“It is time for all of the journalists of the world to ask themselves,” he said. “Are you with us, or are you with Seymour Hersh?”
Elsewhere, President Bush’s boyhood home in Midland, Texas has been opened to the public, including the room where he did not do his homework.
