As usual, you are way behind the curve. Newt is just trying to pretend he is a policy maker, because he had his ear to the wall when the policy makers were meeting.

The Neocons want to pull troops out of Iraq so they can use those troops to threaten and/or invade Iran. Also, they don't want Iran to be able to easily retaliate for the upcoming illegal U.S. bombing raids.
