I am unaware of that. there was one general who said we needed far more, but he wished to fight a different type of action then Rummy wanted. Remember, Rummy had reason for HIS thinking as well:
1. He wanted minimal American Casualties and his thinking was less troops less likelihood of casualties.
2. He wanted minimal American Footprint, meaning he wanted us to maintain the lowest profile possible.

Now, all this PRESUMED that once Saddam was out the Iraqi's would jump into the fray and take over. If you want to talk about a MISTAKE, talk about the firing of Saddams ENTIRE ARMY rather then just the leadership. The excuse was we didnt have barracks etc to keep them in and we didnt know who we could trust and who we couldnt. We will never know what MIGHT have happened had we had a bigger force or kept Saddams Army, but there were REASONS for the decisions, not something just casually done.
Its very easy to second guess NOW but who's to say things would have been better the other way? jdn
