Otherwise they would have found out that there were NO WMDs and that would have thrown a big monkey wrench into the entire engine of war. Besides, this way the Dubyettes can say that Saddam threw out the inspectors.

It was getting pretty embarassing up to that point anyway. The pictures of the chemical weapons vans were nothing but pictures of trucks. If Iraq had Good Humor trucks Bush would have claimed they were disguised chemical weapons vans.

The chemical weapons factory was found to be a booze factory. The Niger documents were obvious forgeries. Though something that got by the best intelligence community in the world.

Remember the missiles that were being destroyed under UN inspection because they had a range that exceeded what was permitted. The US booted the inspectors out before all of them were destroyed and after the war we "discovered" them.
