They wish they could copy cHTT but there are these things called patents and licenses.

I think the bigger thing that's stopping Intel from using HTT and cHTT is NIH syndrome.

AMD and Intel have patent sharing agreement, Intel is free to join Hypertransport Consortium, and Intel can either license cHTT, or possibly roll their own version.

There are some know exclusions to the patent sharing. One of which is FSB (IIRC), which, if it works both ways, may be hurting Intel a lot more than AMD. Who would now want their crappy FSB?

Another exclusion is Itanium stuff, for which Intel and HP created a separate corporation.
