There are some Cornell deals that are "decent" considering the circumstances but often they are convertible deals significantly below market which encourages dumping, shorting, naked shorting, advance shorting, etc.

Timing is critical. If you like the company, and buy in AFTER massive dilution and dumping, you have a good chance of making some money. But, often you don't know when it will end, particularly in a discount to market convertible.
