if i were Iran and i were attacked by the US, i would respond with "economic violence". if Iran is attacked they WILL shut down the Strait of Hormuz. that automatically cuts off 25% of total global oil and 40% of the world's traded oil, and will cause a global oil shock the likes of which have not been seen since the 1970s. i think $200 oil will not be out of the question.

that is before one even considers the offensive military actions at Iran's disposal in Iraq (Mahdi Army) and through terrorist infiltrations in the West.
