Derek,

We need peace in our time. At any cost.

The reality is that we do not have the political capital or support to take on the Iranian madmen directly. The Europeans seem to be set on appeasement and the Russians and Chinese on profit motives (the Russians who are fighting these same madmen are very hard to understand).

We can provide pressure, but if they bomb an allied nation or us - the gloves will come off.

Just be ok with it. Most of the killed or maimed will be city dwellers and will be overwhelmingly liberal (and in this country Democrats).

The only exceptions would be a couple of Southern or Texan cities, but even then - most of the Dems congregate.

I get back to my original proposal - if its ok for American enemies to get nukes (in Russian and Chinese eyes) we should start supporting proliferation as a countermeasure. Lets give Taiwan some nukes, maybe sell Israel a Trident submarine or to get the Iranians where the sun don't shine - support a nuclear Kurdistan.

John
