Fewer desireable places to move to are still that cheap. Find where nice houses are still closer to $150k with very low taxes and insurance. I guess some areas of the midwest, the Carolinas and Georgia come to mind.. Even in Texas you can get a great house but the RE taxes and insurance on a $150k house run you easily $6k today.

This place out near you in Idaho has spectacular scenery and I hear it is not Californicated just yet like Boise. I bet taxes and insurance still reasonable
