U.S. 'Spy' Beheaded In Pakistan
The Post Chronicle / UPI Wire ^ | Tue. April 18, 2006

MIRAMSHAH, Pakistan - April 17, 2006 (UPI) -- Residents of the tense border region between Afghanistan and Pakistan found the headless body of a man in a market area, officials said.

The body was found in the North Waziristan region where Pakistani forces have been fighting militant forces, the Dawn reported.

A note found with the body called the victim a U.S. spy and warned area the residents they would face the same fate if they followed his example, official reports said.

Many of the foreign militants who fled Afghanistan after the Taliban lost power joined forces with ethnic Pashtun tribesmen. The tribes live on both sides of the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan and many sympathize with the Taliban.

Last Wednesday the Pakistani army killed an Egyptian al-Qaida member wanted for involvement in the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in an airstrike in the region.
