I know someone who bought a Prius a few years ago and another who bought the biggest Ford SUV at about the same time. The one with the Prius also put in solar panels and will pay a piddling amount for a 4500 sf home's energy costs. The other one didn't.

You can lead some people to energy efficiency but you can't make them smarter!

I'm wonder what will happen when gas hits $4.00/gallon. Will that freak people out and what will they do then? If you have to commute from dismal-plastic-suburbia, you have to commute.

Will companies lay out cots in cubicles or make people work out of their homes --- not as much fun as it sounds from what I've heard.

At the very least, they should make kids walk to school. That will help the obesity/diabetes epidemic and help with the gasoline crunch.

Frankly, at $4/gallon I see a nation out of its mind with fear.
