Usually that's a sign that it's going to continue the next day. MM's may be short the stock thinking that it would continue to "pause", gradually drifting downwards.

this type of volume often kills their quasi naked short position. Did you notice the couple of periods where they brought the quotes back. Each time was met w/ huge buying volume.

You wouldn't see it necessarily unless you watched the tape all day.
