You are so right. We built a all and fence between our country and Mexico a long time ago. It has not been maintained. It would be a nice follow up after we finish building a barrier between the US and our neighbor to the SOuth, if we would build a barrier to slow illegal entry from the North. It would be ok if the they operated like turn styles, because if someone want to go to Canada because they don't like having George Bush as their President, they can't leave fast enough. I still believe that having effective control over who works in the country would go a long way to discouraging illegal immigration. It certainly would encourage the current illegal occupants to go home. Both of those would be a good thing for our security. The concern that I have is the economic effect of removing a few million workers from our workforce. Mexicans seem to be more willing to relocate to where there is employment demand, and Americans seem less responsive. Immediate deportation of every illegal immigrant would cause a recession at a minimum.
