"I'm all for small, limited government."

Not going to happen. If for no other reason, if the government doesn't out weigh the largest company or companies, then it will just be a tool of that(or those) companies. If you think that isn't a bad thing, google "company town" sometime. I grew up in what was in essence a company town. It isn't pleasant for any one who isn't high in the company. Talk to someone from Utah who isn't a Mormon for the reasons. Suffice it to say that you don't get a meritocracy under those circumstances.

This is something that transcends ideology. There are actual examples out there, and they aren't pretty.

Look, I am a Texan, born and raised. While I understand your affection for a small and limited government, I assure you it ain't going to happen on a national scale. If it does, then the nation is screwed.
