Mike,

Congrats on your retirement.
Glad to see your hard work pay off and welcome to the freedom 40 club!

Thanks for the CS update.

If you are moored you still need to juice the batteries with a spin around the harbour and don't forget soon enough gasoline will be 3$C/L (10$US/Gal for the Yanks)and Marina gas is at a premium. May not be a problem for you as long as you stay put.

I do not want to be hosed any more than I need to be by the oil cos, especially since I plan to travel with my yacht. So my yacht will be a sailer with the miser diesel engine. I like the near zero energy cruising cost of a sailing yacht! ;-)

Hopefully I will get a chance to grab a bargain when the "luxury toys" go on fire sale when we get a bad recession i.e. demand for the luxury toys drop. A buddy of mine (freedom 36 club and gold bull since late 90s) got his 12m french sailing yacht during the recession of 1992 for 20 cents on the dollar and now worth at least 5 or 6 times what he paid for it.

Talk some more at your next monthly Thursday dinner meeting.

Cheers,
Terry
