I hurt my leg pretty badly about 6 weeks ago, pulled or tore a tenden and almost could not walk, so I decided a month in Hawaii diving was a good idea if I could not work or walk. Doc said I just had to stay off of it. I had to use a wheel chair from plane to plane. Been diving every day for several hours and it is helping. I decided to take yesterday off and get a massage to loosen up my muscels and maybe help my leg. Boy she really worked my leg and I was a little nervous, but she must have known what she was doing as it is much better today. Then I took a wild chance and went to get a pedicure-lol? First time!!-lol I had and ingrown toe nail that was bothering me and I could not reach it with my leg hurt so badly. So with great trepidation I walked into the shop and sat down. A young asian girl started working on me and I thought she might be new from asia and did not know what to say. It turns out she is Vietnamese and chinese, grew up in emoryville calif and only asian in her high school class and went to UC Davis and is studying to be a doctor-lol. She is very very liberal, like me, and reminded me of my little emily (my younger daughter who is in school in new zealnad and plans to get a PHD in environmetnal science-liberal dad-lol). she could talk with me on any subject. She cleaned all my toes and worked on the ingrown toenail and the rest of my toes (didn't know there was so much sutff in there-lol) and my feet in general and they have neve felt or looked better. She was pulling stuff out everywhere-lol. My toes are so pretty now I feel like I should paint my toe nails-lol. She said 40% of Davis is asian, over 50% of berkeley, and most of UC Irvine. She wants to be a traveling doctor and do good for the world. I gave her a huge tip to help her with school. So yesterday was a great day for me, sort of like one day in the life of Ivan Denisovich-lol. She gave me great hope for the future.
