Bob,

No such thing as a stupid question...just ignorant people. The reason I have this defibrillator is because I have lethal ventricular tachycardia and it will help to save my life... When my heart start beating too quickly after 9 beats, I get a little shock. If my heart on the other hand, continues beating too quickly, after 15 beats, I receive a MEGA shock. They say it can knock you right off your feet. I have yet to experience this one.

My little defibrillator is specifically programmed, as you would program any computer, to my specific condition. Every two months I go and have it checked...they put a mouse type thing on my defib and a computer reads all of the electrical data from my heart and machine for the past two months. The defib is recording data all the time...unless I get too close to a magnet, which turns it off. Guess I won't be visiting the Hoover Dam anytime soon.

The laptop they use can speed up or slow down my heart rate. It can also put me into V-tach to make sure that the defib is set correctly.

I hope this helps?

Tranquility...Caroline
