Not fleet efficiency wrt MPG

Overall MPG for cars or cars and trucks has not improved recently. Energy efficiency has improved for these cars by a small amount, but the cars are bigger so even if you use a little less fuel to generate a given amount of power, you are using more power and thus more fuel.

My point was that overall energy efficiency has improved, and real dollars produced per unit of energy or per barrel of oil have improved.

If your point is that average MPG of passenger vehicles is not improving than you are correct about that specific fact.
