I came across an article in the Aug 21, 1992 Newsweek that stated there was a science cover-up. It talked about flourescent lighting and chlorine in water as two serious health threats. It spoke of scientific findings - scientists found, but the discoveries were buried (by MOnsanto, no doubt) that chlorine in tap water caused birth defects. Interestingly I read in an sfgate article ca 2000 that doctors were telling pregnant moms never drink tap water - cleft palates were becoming epidemic in newborns. The other finding - flourescent lighting can cause leukemia - makes sense - it leeches Vitamin A out of milk products stored in translucent plastic jobs, and Vitamin A helps prevent leukemia. Just two of the stories buried by lobbies more powerful than the truth.
