I had a heavy dose of the academy...

I never had an experience of a professor pushing a political point of view. As an undergrad I took poli sci, econ, sociology, philosophy and the like. I don't recall anyone ever offering anything but straight subject material. In grad school, the subject material was management. No one ever wandered off topic. There was just too much to learn about the subject at hand. I did my graduate work nights, though, so I was not surrounded by "the academy" in the same way as you are when you're covered in ivy.

I can't relate at all to the complaints. Of course, when I was in school, they didn't yet have "women's studies" departments...
