It gives the example of one company, Avid Technology, that kicked the habit of late-quarter discounting to its ultimate benefit. Perhaps Ascend should just bite the bullet and take a bad quarter, and then restructure the sales strategy to avoid the last-minute frenzy. The stock is already in the dumpster anyway, so now seems like a good time for such a switch. FWIW, I have a long-term holding in Ascend that is slightly underwater. I also traded in and out this week for a gain of 2 points.
