Carbon monoxide probed in motel deaths of three East Bay residents

SAN FRANCISCO Authorities are trying to determine whether carbon monoxide poisoning killed three East Bay residents and another man in a Nevada motel room.
Investigators suspect the fumes could have come from a room heater or a heater for the adjacent motel swimming pool.

The bodies were found over the weekend at the Casino West Motel in Yerington, about 50 miles southeast of Reno.

The bodies showed no signs of violence or foul play.

Authorities identified the victims as 27-year-old Juan Pablo Chavez and his wife, 20-year-old Veronica Espinoza Chavez of Richmond.

Also killed were 30-year-old Donna Vega-Robles of San Pablo and 26-year-old Phillip Doll of Yerington.

All four checked into the motel over the weekend.
