By referring to NOVA and NPR as unbiased or liberal, you point out a real problem in the discussion about global warming, and that problem plainly put is the politicization of science.

I do my level best to take politics out of issues that should properly be viewed as scientific matters. Whatever the science shows, the science shows. And my admittedly layman's review of it leads me to conclude that (1) yes, there is global warming in the Northern Hemisphere and that (2) there is probably some role that human activity plays in it but the extent of the human activity contribution to the "problem" cannot be calculated.

I'm leaning towards thinking that the human contribution is far less than many think, but I will freely admit [unlike those who want to politicize science and know everything that needs to be known, like the historians who already know Bush will be one of the worst presidents in history] that I just don't know.

I'm not even sure that global warming can be prevented or that it is necessarily a bad thing. Probably something we just need to deal with in a rational manner without going to Vermont [hey, I like that phrase, "going to Vermont", vbg] and getting all Howard Deanish about it.

What I can see is that the Fear Brigades are out in force. And when I note that the Fear Brigades resort to frog marching penguins in the desert for photo ops in an attempt to make a point, I know it's time to tune up my skepticism knob to max.
