Peter, I did a little poking around the Net on this one. I cannot possibly fathom what these organs are to be used for--certainly not for transplantation into human beings! No mention is made of tissue matching. There is also the marked limitation WRT shelf life of the organs, as they are good for transplantation for only a matter of hours and then only with very special handling.

Organs for transplantation are always harvested from the recently deceased while they are still on life support and the organ(s) rushed (usually air-lifted) to the intended recipient(s) who has/have been carefully tissue-typed and is/are already in a (usually) nearby operating room(s), with the surgical team(s) present, and the patient(s) prepped and draped and ready to receive the organ(s). (I write it this way, as there often are multiple recipients for one donor's organs.)

Were any US of A citizens receiving transplants of the organs described in these articles, the negative hue and cry would be unimaginable, I would imagine.

It seems to me that the sole purpose of these "organ harvests" is torture. - Holly
