A recognition that an energy policy is every bit a national requirement as a healthcare policy would be a start. There is absolutely no reason that I can see that a one party government can't address it.

How about these for starters:

-Waive the gas taxes, both fed and state.
-Open up ANWAR and territories in Wyoming and Colorado.
-Open up drilling off California.
-Permit more refineries.
-Regulate oil company profits.
-Get serious with the Arabs.
-Expedite fuel efficiency standards.
-Pass alternative energy measures (and stop blocking windmill proposals because it obstructs the distant view of oceanfront property owned by the rich wives of senators who ran for president).

These are a start. It's time to do something.
