Marcosovitcher, we have been friends for a long time, so
I will break it to you gently. There is a price for gold.

In fact there are many prices. They are all different. Here
is one below. This quote guarantees that if you proffer yanqui
piastres you will be able to buy a troy ounce of pure gold of
atomic weight 195 or thereabouts for the second price across
herein. 633.30 US. This equates to 20.36 US per gram. The
quote was good for April 22nd, 2006 1:30:31 PM EDT.

Now exactly where you buy it and mark ups to the below price
are a matter of experiment. BNS will co-operate depending on
the no. of ounces you buy for approx the second price below
plus exhange on the CDN dollars plus a premium plus handling
charge and shoot you out a fold wafer in about 30 minutes or
less. The dollar exchange will cost you a bit. The US buck
costs 1.1372 canuckistan pesos in quote. But if you attempt to
buy some, it will probably cost you closer to 1.145 At any rate
the gram of gold will cos you about $23.59. But they don't
sell grams.

You can add the cost of your time to find out where to buy it,
and the cost to get there. The time haggling with bank
employees, and the cost of parking. If you stop for a bite to
eat you have better factor in hamburgers and a shake. You might
buy a magazine too, so add about 5.95.

To buy one ounce of gold pure, it goes like this,

1. drive downtown 1 hour = $20.00
2. gas, oil maintenance per mile @0.55 = $14.30
3. Hamburger and shake = $8.95
4. Hour spend reading magazine = $20.00
5. 1/2 hour haggling with bank employee = $10.00
6. parking downtown = $10.00
7. bank fees and handling = $13.95
8. surcharge per ounce $18.35
9. basic gold price in CDN dollars one troy ounce
= $725.13
10. leather carrying case for gold wafer $23.52
11. return trip to house and home $24.30
12. side stop at o'malleys to show off wafer
2 rounds @24.36 = $48.72
13. Tip waitress because she flounced and
smiled and said "you're new here aren't you"=$13.00
14. speeding ticket on way home = $57.60
14. extra time spent telling officer you only had
three drinks so it is pointless to do a breathalyser

= 1 hr $20.00
15. Extra baked goods and breath mints as excuse
for wife as what was taking all this time = $23.95
16. long distance phone call to friend to brag
about owning a 100 ounces of yellow stuff = $11.95

Total cost one ounce gold troy === $1063.72 CDN

It all depends on the common factors. If you are not factoring
in all dependent variables, then the real cost of ownership of
gold can deceive even the most brilliant economist. Our
economist above has learned to look beneath the surface at what
constitutes the "big picture", or the hidden influences that
drive the "realpolitik" economy. If you ever again see a quote
on metal prices, stop for a minute and add it up. What does it
really cost to lead the metal lifestyle? Or conversely, how
much can you save by avoiding the whole affair in the first
place? Before you do anything in life you should ask yourself,
how much am I paying myself to do this sordid nonsense?. If you
cannot conceive of getting better than minimum wage at it, then
it must be so much fun that you don't have to pay people to do
it, so go ahead. Do it.
