indeed Crabbe. Later I found that sugar cane has ratios as high as 8:1 (which I posted but somehow it seems to be removed). I didn't look into it yet but I guess sugar cane can only be grown in a certain climate like they have in Brazil. An 8:1 ratio is impressive. Current fossil fuel ratios are about 30:1 I believe and in the early days they were as high as 100:1. Oil sand have very poor ratios of about 1.5:1. If your number on corn is correct then ethanol from corn is more interesting then oil sands. Biofuels are a very interesting sector and I hope they will get there in time before a real oil crisis will seriously alter our way of living.
