In Christ's One Holy Church there is no need for guesswork.
Papists, Protestants and "Preterists" are left to guess, because they have cut themselves off from the pillar and ground of truth, Christ's Holy Orthodox Church.
Many choose to go their own way, and not to come to the bosom of Holy Church, where the truth has been preserved untainted for nearly two millennia now.
You will never understand these things until you accept the plain and undeniable words of the holy Apostle Paul:
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. (2 Timothy 2.2)

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle. (2 Thessalonians 2.15)

Christians are instructed to keep the traditions that were passed down from the holy Apostles to faithful men, who in turn would pass the teachings on to succeeding generations.
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. (Jude 1.3)
You see? The Faith was once delivered to the saints. The goal is to PRESERVE the Faith unsullied, not FIGURE IT OUT to suit our own private interpretations, centuries later.
Unless one grasps this basic concept, that the Church was delivered the ENTIRE TRUTH necessary for our salvation from the very beginning, and that the Church has never ceased to exist in all previous ages, and never will cease to exist in the ages to come; and that in every generation there are those who preserve the TRADITIONS as St. Paul exhorted us to follow...
He will never escape out of Babylon -- his own personal confusion.
"Preterism" is alien to the TRADITION of the Church.
If you were to actually learn the traditions of the Church, and read the holy saints that preceded us, instead of hearkening to the charlatans and hucksters of these evil times, you would understand this.
