That is true. The whole world has been used to paying a lot more for gasoline for a long time. I am kind of surprised that electric cars and hybrids have not caught on faster in countries with expensive gas. I guess it has something to do with their cultures, in which they drive less and just rely on smaller more efficient cars.

Americans complain about $3.00 gasoline, while gasoline has been selling for $6.00+ for years in Europe. Americans better get ready for $5.00 gasoline, because it appears that it is coming by the end of this decade. There will be a huge turnover of cars as people scramble to upgrade to more efficient models. Hybrids might just take over in this climate.
