Rick, you asked:

Wasn't Karen the secretary?

A very good question. I believe you are right. This in and of itself does not disqualify her from being the Vice President of the company. Though they are often streotyped as less than brilliant, I think there are many secretaries who are very competent indeed. Karen might have been a secretary, but she may have been underemployed as a good many people are for their jobs in Ithaca. I don't know what Karen's qualification are. I do wish they spelled them out in the report like they spelled out Tachovsy's qualifications. But I'm sure Karen's been able to get very good on-the-job training working in the difficult job that she's been doing. And she's had an excellent teacher. After years of observing Rhodes, all she'll have to do is ask herself how he would handle a given situation. Then she could do the exact opposite and I'm sure she'll do just fine.

As far as Lee Henderson's appointment goes: no one is questioning his qualifications as a scientist. From what I hear, he's top notch in the science department. However, he appears to be a motivating factor in the company's nuisance lawsuit against Babish. I think I have shown that some of the claims that he made in his affadavit are questionable. Since the point of the lawsuit seems to be to gag Babish so he can't tell investors what has happened to their money, I doubt his appointment is in the stockholder's best interest. And did anyone think this was a bit strange in the news release:

Dr. Henderson is serving as a non-compensated corporate officer.

Dr. Henderson is doing this for free???? Is he doing this out of the goodness of his heart? Or could there be some other reading. If we can believe the affadavit that Dr. Babish filed in his defense, we know that Henderson wanted to arrange for a sizable deal between his own company, Viral Therapeutics, and PRLN. Dr. Babish did not approve of a deal as sizeable as the one Henderson wanted. Could Dr. Henderson be using his position as a Board Member and VP of PRLN to obtain business for his company that he couldn't obtain while Babish was in power?

Someting else bothered me about the Henderson appointment. Henderson must be a very busy man as head of his own company. Where will he find time to devote to his duties as VP of PRLN? Does he plan on leaving Viral Therapeutics to do so? That would give him time for his new job and relieve him of any possibility of conflict of interests with PRLN, but unfortunately the news release was silent on this matter.

And one other thing bothered me about the Jackson and Henderson appointments. The news release stated:

Paracelsian, Inc. also appointed Ms. Karen Jackson as Vice President and Dr. Lee Henderson as Vice President. Dr. Henderson is serving as a non-compensated corporate officer.

Is it my imagination, or don't most news releases mention the capacity in which a newly appointed Vice President will serve. I've often seen releases such as: "Smith will be Vice President in charge of Marketing", "Jones will be Vice President in charge of Finance", or some such thing. Do these Vice Presidents have any specific duties, or are they to be Jacks (and Jills) of all trades?

Karen, despite my questioning, I would like to offer you my congratulations on your promotion and wish you good luck in a most difficult job.

Robin
